Smart Presence System, BeamPro Now Offers Assisted Docking, Assisted Driving, and Color Customization Options

Suitable Technologies, the company that brings people together with Smart Presence technology, today announced the new Beam application with features such as assisted docking, along with several new additions for its Smart Presence System (SPS), BeamPro®. The new options now available for BeamPro include assisted driving capabilities and customized color choices. BeamPro goes beyond video conferencing technology; enabling users, or pilots, to enjoy meaningful interaction through the combination of low-latency audio and video with tele-operated maneuverability anywhere WiFi and 4G are available.

The latest Beam application features a new UI (user interface) and includes a new assisted docking feature, enabling the BeamPro to dock itself once its charging station is within view of the BeamPro’s navigation camera. A pilot simply holds down the letter “P” on his or her keyboard and the BeamPro will dock itself onto its charging contacts. The Beam application delivers a realistic sensory experience to BeamPro pilots, and can be downloaded free on any Windows® 7 or Windows 8 (including Microsoft Surface® tablet) or Mac (OSX® 10.6 or higher) device. BeamPro assisted docking: docking is made easier for pilots through the use of augmented reality; object recognition of the dock and real-time path planning help steer BeamPro’s charging contacts onto its dock
BeamPro assisted driving: a new option that adjusts the BeamPro’s driving speed according to its environment using LIDAR (LIght Detection and Ranging), thus helping a pilot navigate his or her BeamPro safely
BeamPro colors: fully customizable color options including red, orange, black, and grey, so customers may personalize BeamPro to their taste or brand.
How BeamPro works
The BeamPro fulfills the need for shared awareness between people, places, and things. It embodies the remote individual, or pilot, with his or her authentic presence, and immerses the individual using reliable low-latency audio and video for natural communication, interaction, and control to the benefit of everyone involved. BeamPro mimics the physical presence of the pilot by placing the viewing monitor at eye-level, and low-latency video broadcasts in 480p in order to promote natural response times for gestures, driving, and other conversational cues. Application-specific audio makes use of six microphones, ideal for conversations up to 20 feet away, and cancels background noise; thereby making BeamPro and excellent A/V option for factories, events, or other noisy environments.
