Bandwidth
The Beam Desktop Application is designed to recognize the best bandwidth setting for a particular pilot connection on a given network.
Default Bandwidth Cannot be Assigned
- There is currently no way to adjust the default bandwidth for all users simultaneously as these settings are specific to the pilot's network.
- Example: In the event that the pilot changes networks, the adjustment that had been made to the bandwidth values that improved call quality on one network, may ultimately hinder call quality, or worse, render the Beam unusable on an alternative network.
- There are times when it is appropriate to throttle bandwidth to make up for lost packets, but this should be done on an as-needed basis.
We highly recommend that all pilots use a wired (Ethernet) connection if possible as this method eliminates the potential for interference that occurs in a wireless environment. If Ethernet is not available, a 5 GHz WiFi network is the next best option.
